Music
Intent:
Through our music curriculum we want children to:
- Develop an appreciation for music
- Experience and interact with different genres of music
- Develop skills in a variety of musical concepts (e.g. rhythm and pitch)
- Develop their singing
- Perform in a variety of contexts
Implementation:
- Music is taught once a week in all year groups
- We follow the Charanga Programme (in line with the National Curriculum)
- Each term we have a ‘genre’ lesson which allows the children to experience a different genre of music
- We have weekly singing collective worship
- Each year group has a performance opportunity (e.g. the Carol Service, Year 6 Show)
